The Russian Translation Project

RUSSIA 2

The Russian Pentecostal Theological Conference

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

This past November (2015) I traveled to Russia where I ministered in various settings over a ten-day period. I initially traveled to the city of Izhevsk and spoke at the first all Russian Pentecostal Theological Conference. Over 200 Bible school faculty and pastors from all over Russia attended this conference. Some from Siberia traveled over 30 hours by train in order to attend. That Sunday it was also my privlege to preach in the Filadelfia Church, one of the largest Pentecostal churches in Russia. I was greatly encouraged as I witnessed firsthand the vitality and devotion of these dear brothers and sisters in the Lord.

Later that Sunday evening I flew back to Moscow where, over the next week, I taught a course for the faculty of the Moscow Theological Institute. I also gave some special lectures for the Bachelor of Theology students. The students at MTI were a great group and very responsive. The food was also wonderful – I especially enjoyed the kasha, borscht, and cheese – but the fellowship was even more memorable.

While I was in Russia, I learned that there is a great need for books on Pentecostal theology in the Russian language. Our friends at the Moscow Theological Institute are preparing to translate into Russian the book that I wrote in conjunction with Bob with his students, largely the faculty and administration of the Moscow Theological Institutemy father, Spirit and Power: Foundations of Pentecostal Experience (Zondervan, 2000) and my more recent book, Pentecost: This Story is Our Story (GPH, 2013).

THE NEED:

We want to help them with this important translation project by providing U.S. $ 500 per book.
